LoL Arena is a new game mode in League of Legends that is currently in development. It is a 2v2 battle arena mode where players choose from a pool of champions and fight to destroy the enemy team’s base.
LoL arena mode features a number of unique mechanics, including augments, which are passive abilities that can be equipped to champions to give them a boost.
While this game mode has not yet arrived on official servers, Riot Games has already made some changes to PBE, the League of Legends patch testing platform for the game.
What is LoL Arena mode?
LoL Arena mode is a new game mode in League of Legends that is currently available as part of the 2023 Summer Event. It is a 2v2v2v2 team deathmatch-like mode where players fight to be the last team standing. The mode is a cross between Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends, and features a buy phase and a combat phase.
In the buy phase, players choose between an augment or gold. Augments are powerful abilities that can give players a significant advantage in combat. Gold can be used to buy items that will improve a champion’s stats.
In the combat phase, players fight against the other teams in a 2v2 battle. The first team to kill the other team wins the round. The team with the most wins at the end of the game is the winner.
What’s new on LoL Arena?
Riot Games has recently released a number of new changes to LoL Arena on the PBE. These changes include buffs and nerfs to champions, items, and augments.
For enchanters, both Echoes of Helia and Shurelya’s Reverie are being buffed to compete fairly with Moonstone Renewer, which has been a go-to option for the role in Arena.
League of Legends game designer on the Summoners Rift team @MadnessHeroo has shared this on Twitter:
Hello Arena players!
We're back from break and have a batch of balance changes coming in after observing Arena on PBE the past couple weeks.
We are grateful for all the excitement around the mode and can't wait to have it hit live servers.
Please continue to give us feedback! pic.twitter.com/QOLj4Zhxcf— Madness Heroo (@MadnessHeroo) July 10, 2023
Additionally, 13 augments are receiving clear-cut balance changes, with six getting nerfed and another seven set to be buffed. These changes are all based on data that Riot has been gathering from Arena players on the PBE. The goal is to ensure that the game mode is balanced before its official release.
