Excitement fills the air for fighting game fans as the highly anticipated Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising, including Nier as a playable character, prepares to launch its beta later this month.

The recent Anime Expo 2023 panel held by Cygames brought forth thrilling news, announcing the inclusion of the beloved Nier as a playable character, along with additional game details that are sure to captivate players. Let’s check out the contents of the announcement and join the hype!

How will Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising adapt Nier?

Nier joins the roster of Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising as a fascinating puppet character, drawing parallels to the iconic Zato-1 from Guilty Gear and Carl Clover from BlazBlue. The official character description sheds light on Nier’s unique abilities, stating, “Nier can summon the primal beast Death to fight alongside her in battle. When death is present, her skills can be input ahead of time to play out the sequence at the cost of Love’s Redemption. Death will become temporarily unusable when out of Love’s Redemptions, but that won’t stop this pair from posing a formidable threat”.

Aside from the thrilling addition of Nier, Cygames took the opportunity to address some community questions during the panel’s Q&A session, shedding further light on the upcoming Versus Rising title. Siegfried, previously announced, will indeed be included in the beta test scheduled for this month. However, Anila will not make an appearance.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising bids farewell to the Rush and Tactical Move features, making room for exciting new actions such as Raging Chain. Additionally, the game introduces Partners who provide enthusiastic support and offer valuable advice during matches. This feature bears similarities to the in-game commentary seen in Street Fighter 6 but is described more as Navigators specifically tailored to enhance the fighting game experience.

Although no gameplay footage of Nier was showcased at the event, a tantalizing teaser was shared, which has yet to be made available online. Fans eagerly anticipate glimpses of Nier’s combat prowess and unique playstyle.

How to play with friends?

One of the questions raised by the community on Reddit pertained to playing with friends in Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising. A concerned player expressed frustration about the inability to invite friends to their created rooms, even when utilizing private rooms or the PlayStation friend system. The player sought clarity on whether they were missing a crucial feature or if the game lacked the necessary functionality.

In response, the answer is actually quite simple. In order to play the game with your friends, you can follow the brief instructions below:

  • Create a room with a password.
  • Share that password with their friends.
  • When searching for rooms, use the password given by your friend who created the room.
  • Enter the correct room within the narrowed-down search results.

This helpful tip allows players to easily create rooms and invite friends without the need to navigate through the available rooms list, offering a smoother multiplayer experience.
