Nitro Deck: Elevating your Nintendo Switch gaming experience

The Nintendo Switch has a brand-new controller accessory called the Nitro Deck that makes it resemble the Steam Deck quite a bit. And until we saw it, we were unaware of our need for it.

CRKD is the manufacturer of the Nitro Deck, which appears to be the company’s inaugural offering. At the very least, that appears to be the only option available on their website.

However, judging from the website and the photographs that are being used for advertising, this item appears to be of extremely high quality. A truly high-end addition made by a third party.

Let’s take a more in-depth look at the Nitro Deck and figure out why we need this accessory for gaming on the go with our Nintendo Switch portable.

Let’s examine the Nitro Deck in further detail and determine why we require it for playing portable Nintendo Switch games while on the road

Revolutionize your Nintendo Switch with the Nitro Deck

For the Nintendo Switch, both the original and OLED editions, the Nitro Deck is a controller and port attachment.

You insert your Switch console into the cleverly constructed add-on, and it completely changes it into something that resembles the Steam Deck. But much better, in my humble opinion.

I must give them credit; they truly produced a beautiful product. But the function is just as significant as the looks.

So, did they also get it right? It appears that they did. Unlike the Nintendo Switch, the Nitro Deck has a complete dpad and premium-looking buttons throughout. Something that will be useful to aficionados of vintage gaming.

It appears that the large-sized triggers will be really comfy to operate as well. Additionally, you won’t have to worry about stick drift in the future because the Nitro Deck uses hall sensor joysticks.

Additionally, they advertise ultra-low latency, so you shouldn’t experience the input delays that some third-party controllers do. The device attaches to the bottom of your Switch via a USB-c connection.

A sizable kickstand, two USB-C plugs (input and output), and four re-mappable buttons for customized actions are all included on the Nitro Deck’s back.

It appears that CRKD gave careful consideration to each and every aspect of their new accessory.

Nitro Deck: Features

The Professional Handheld Deck for Switch & OLED Model, Nitro Deck, is designed for speed and comfort with no stick drift. The Nitro Deck will provide the responsiveness and accuracy you need to play your favorite games comfortably for a longer period of time, whether you’re playing at home or on the move, casually or competitively. Let’s take a look at the features:

  • Ergonomically Built (Built for Comfort)
  • Zero stick drift (Hall Effect Thumbsticks)
  • Ultra Low Latency (direct connection via USB-C)
  • Swappable Thumbstick Toppers
  • Re-mappable back buttons (Play your way)
  • Plug-n-charge (charge while you play)
  • Wired Mode (use as an extra controller when the console is docked)
  • Display Stand
  • Connects to the CRKD Companion app (True Collection System)

Each of these devices registers via the CRKD “True Collection System”, a mobile app where digital proof of physical ownership is established. The “True Collection System” will also reveal the product number and rarity rank along with registering your product to your secure CRKD collection.

There are multiple CRKD Nitro Deck options available to pre-order, and they range from $60 to $90. You can take a look at the various options here, and lock in your purchase right now. You can also see an extended feature on the Nitro Deck below.

Nitro Deck: Purchasing Information

Pre-orders for the Nitro Deck can be made right now, and shipment is scheduled to start on September 18th, 2023.

  • The “Base Edition” costs $ 59.99 USD and comes in black, white, and grey.
  • The unique “Nostalgia Edition” devices include colored buttons and a Game Cube color scheme, similar to a SNES controller. These are going for $89.99 USD each.
