Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC 2023, is all set to kick off on June 5th. The event, which will run until June 9th, will be held in an online format due to the pandemic. However, Apple will hold an in-person experience on the first day of the show at Apple Park, Cupertino. Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott, has promised that this year’s WWDC will be “the biggest and most exciting yet“.
Traditionally, WWDC is an event where Apple shares details about the latest versions of its operating systems, such as iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and sometimes tvOS. Last year, Apple used the keynote to announce customizable lock screens for iOS 16, a Home app refresh, Stage Manager, the M2 chip, and more.
What to expect from WWDC 2023?
While we can expect Apple to talk about its operating systems, reports suggest that the company could finally reveal its augmented/virtual reality headset at WWDC 2023. However, we must note that people have been predicting this for the past few years. Apple’s event image features rainbow arches on the company’s campus, but it is possible that the image teases headset lenses or maybe even the top half of an eye.
In addition, there are rumors that Apple might announce new Mac hardware at WWDC 2023. The company has been teasing an Apple Silicon Mac Pro for quite some time, and it would make sense to announce it in front of a professional Mac audience. Moreover, there are rumors about a 15-inch MacBook Air, and a WWDC announcement would be an ideal platform to reveal it, given that the company announced a new 13-inch model at last year’s event.
With all these rumors and expectations, we are eagerly waiting for the event to begin. We now know that WWDC 2023 is officially scheduled for June 5-9. Apple is once again holding a special in-person event for the keynote, State of the Union, and more. However, it is a limited, lottery-style process to get invited.

Apple says it may change the health and safety protocols for the in-person event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but for now, the protocols include wearing masks, taking care at home if one experiences COVID-19 symptoms, keeping a reasonable distance from others whenever possible, cleaning high-traffic areas regularly, and providing hand sanitizers.
