While Discord has been out for a long time, it was not available to PlayStation users. Now with the PS5 Discord Beta sign up becoming available, users of the popular console can now use the chat app.
Beginning today, PS5 users in the US, Canada, Japan, and the UK can participate in PS5 Discord Beta sign up. Owners of PS5 devices can now join Discord calls by connecting their accounts, and calls can then be transferred to the PS5 using the Discord mobile app. Along with several dashboard upgrades, Sony is also supporting 1440p with Variable Refresh Rate.
PS5 Discord Beta sign up is now available
The way Microsoft initially introduced Discord compatibility on the Xbox seems to be comparable to how the PS5 Discord Beta sign up and voice integration on the console works. You can’t access Discord servers directly on a PS5 without utilizing a mobile device or your PC to transfer the call, according to Sony, who also states that you must “use the Discord app on your mobile device or computer to get a Discord voice chat going on your PS5 console.”
Sony could do the same, as Microsoft updated Xbox’s Discord integration in November, making it possible for Xbox owners to join voice channels directly from their consoles without the need for a phone or computer.
The PS5 will also feature a variable refresh rate for the 1440p resolution in addition to Discord. As a result, HDMI 2.1 displays that are compatible with VRR at 1440p can take advantage of improved visual performance in games. Additionally, Sony is enhancing the social features of the PS5 dashboard’s party chats and share screen feature. A new “friends who play” tile has even been added so you can see which pals are actively playing a game.
You may presently upload game captures manually on the PS app, but you will soon be able to publish screenshots and video clips automatically. Additionally, Sony is making it simpler to access PS4 saved data on a PS5, allowing new games to load PS4 saved data from earlier games. A local Wi-Fi or LAN connection is a new way to transfer PS5 data and games from one system to another.
How to use Discord on PS5?
You’ll need to complete a few steps first, much like how Discord was initially integrated with Xbox. You’ll be able to communicate with all of your pals who play games on other platforms once you’ve finished all the necessary steps. You won’t have to worry about other players’ in-game communication interfering with your talks either. Everything you need to know about linking Discord to a PS5 is provided here.
Linking your account
You must be a participant in the PS5 beta testers program and wait for an email containing a code to link to Discord. You can PS5 Discord Beta sign up here if you aren’t already a participant. But if you’d prefer not to do that, don’t worry. This feature will be “coming soon for all PS5 owners,” according to Discord.
You must choose User and Accounts in your Settings after entering the code into your PS5. After that, pick Discord by clicking on Linked Services. When you choose this, a QR code and an 8-digit code will be displayed for you to use. Once you’ve followed the instructions on your screen, your Discord account will be connected to your PlayStation account.
Using Discord on PS5
You’re almost ready to utilize Discord on your PlayStation 5 now that everything is linked. Use the Discord app on your computer or phone to get started. Join a voice channel if you’re using the mobile app, then scroll up to go to the “Join on PlayStation” tab. On a PC, though, all you have to do is click the phone icon and then select “Transfer to PlayStation.” As soon as you join a voice channel, your PS5 will allow you to manage the channel’s volume and see who else is in it.
