According to Guinness World Records, Elon Musk has now broken the record for the greatest loss of personal fortune in history (GWR). His loss surpassed the previous record by up to $124 billion.
The owner of Twitter has lost over $182 billion since November 2021. While “the exact value is practically impossible to verify,” other sources claim the lost amount is closer to $200 billion, breaking the previous record set by Japanese tech billionaire Masayoshi Son, who lost $58.6 billion in 2000, by a significant margin.
Musk’s steep descent kicked off in October 2022, when he purchased Twitter for approximately $44 billion.
