Bannerlord Campaign vs Sandbox
Sandbox is roughly the same as starting a new game in Warband. There are no primary plot quests, no time-sensitive quests, and no overarching purpose. Simply choose your beginning age and begin your new life in Calradia. The campaign however has all that and it all comes down to player preference on which mode to play. Here are some things about both game modes.
In the Campaign mode, you will be starting with family members, all of which have free attributes and FP, allowing you to customize them and fill the roles that you need in your clan. Along with your brothers, their two wives will be added to your clan, giving you a total of 5 members that you can take advantage of while creating your clan. This many members in the clan actually put you on par with other big clans in the game.
In the game, you may deploy these clan members as formidable leaders for your fighting groups. If you like, they can command their own armies alongside yours or other people’s armies. You may also make them Governors for your cities and utilize them to send out Caravans.
When you begin a Sandbox game, you will not only have any siblings to join your clan, but you will also have a different character creation option. You must pick your age; if you choose an older age, you will receive more tributes and FP to design your character. However, your life expectancy will be reduced. Your likelihood of dying in BannerLord begins at the age of 48. It’s a very small possibility that increases with age.
Keep in mind that if you begin as an older female character, you will have a more difficult time having children. You will be unable to have children if you begin as a 50-year-old female character. Also, if you begin the game as a 50-year-old character, you will have a risk of becoming ill and dying. It has an extremely low likelihood, but it will be increasing with time.
All and all, we think that both game modes have great merit and their own pros and cons. If you are a newer player, the Campaign mode offers a lot for you. But if you are a seasoned fan of the Mount & Blade games, our suggestion would be to go with the Sandbox mode.
