In this article, we are going to be covering LoL best URF champs (Top 5), so you can dominate the competition in this game mode.
With Patch 12.19, League of Legends‘ resident ability spamming and frenetic team combat style has finally found their way back to players’ clients, and they can’t wait to get their hands on it. Ultra Rapid Fire, or URF for short, is a game mode in which champions have minimal to no cooldowns and no mana or energy cost to their abilities. It was first launched on April Fools Day in 2014. As you can think, this leads to a lot of mayhem and enjoyment on the Summoner’s Rift.
This style of play, like any other in League of Legends, lends itself to some champions doing better than others. That’s why we’ve chosen to send our top five champions to URF.
LoL best URF champs (Top 5)
With over 140 champions in League of Legends, choosing which one to play as in URF might be difficult—we’ve whittled it down to just five. Here are our recommendations.
Nautilus
It may come as a surprise that Nautilus is ranked fifth out of almost 140 champions—but bear with us as we explain. To begin with, the Titan of the Depths is a true CC machine; all of his spells, with the exception of his W, which is a shield, CC foes in some form.
His Q is a hook, his E is a pretty big AoE slow, and, of course, his ultimate is a point-and-click knock-up that affects not only the victim but everyone in its path… Did we mention his Passive causes his initial auto-attack to root his targets? Imagine being able to spam all of these skills without feeling guilty; it’s a no-brainer, really—CC for days. And, while he doesn’t deal a lot of damage, he makes up for it with his ability to set up the rest of his squad.
Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank, the original hook god, serves a similar function to Nautilus. Sure, he doesn’t have as much CC as the Titan of the Depths, but he comes close, and he also delivers something the other champion doesn’t: loads of damage… mainly if constructed AP. To summarize, his Q is an incredible hook, his W is a decent speed boost, his E is a tremendous knock-up, and his ultimate is a large AoE silence that deals considerable damage.
The Great Steam Golem excels in URF, providing CC for days and if constructed appropriately, a shocking amount of damage that will allow you to 100-0 an adversary when they least expect it.
Yuumi
You’d think a champion like Yuumi, who has little to no chance without a partner, wouldn’t make this list, but you’re mistaken. Ever since her entrance to League of Legends and subsequently, URF, she’s endured one of the highest ban rates in the mode. This small flying cat on a book is incredibly oppressive and can convert any champion into an unkillable monster capable of taking over the game single-handedly, or two-handedly in this instance. Simply connect her Zoomies, her E, to your champion of choice and watch them dominate.
Shaco
One of the first OPs to torment URF mode Shaco, Summoner’s Rift, is not only deceitful because of his Deceive ability, but he is also a true bully. In this form, all of his powers just work so nicely together. You can just sneak apparently forever. Few champions are better suited to this style than the Demon Jester himself, who fully lives up to his moniker. Simply deceive someone, sneak behind their back, then Two-Shiv for maximum damage and kills.
Zed
It should come as no surprise that Zed, like Shaco, is one of the original OP champions for URF. There are various aspects that contribute to the ideal URF champion. Their capacity to efficiently spam skills, how their abilities interact with one another, and what they contribute to the table. However, in a fast-paced game mode like this, their ability to straight up one shot or harass players is sometimes forgotten. This is where Zed enters the picture.
Although this champion will confuse both you and your opponents, his madness in URF allows him to take down virtually any target. Zed can take down any unwary squishy—and sometimes non-squishy—with just one use of his shadow, in this case, many owing to shorter cooldowns. Your opponents will have no idea what hit them.
