Battle net down and gamers are frustrated
In what has been a dreadful 24 hours for Blizzard, the firm has revealed that it’s Overwatch 2 launcher software Battle.net is experiencing further DDOS assaults, forcing user disconnections. The statement that Battle.net is under attack was conveyed via social media. Blizzard developers cautioned players that they may experience significant latency and disconnections from several games, including the latest release Overwatch 2. Blizzard provided no information on whether certain games were affected more than others, although the issue appears to be widespread across all Blizzard products.
Battle net DDoS attack explained
If you’re experiencing trouble logging in to Battle.net or finding that Blizzard games aren’t working properly, and you’re seeing Battle.net down reports on October 11, it’s because of another DDoS assault! Are you unfamiliar with a DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack? Here’s how it works. A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is a malicious attempt to interrupt regular traffic to a specific server, service, or network by flooding the target or its surrounding infrastructure with Internet traffic.
[#BNet] We are currently experiencing a DDoS attack, which may result in high latency and disconnections for some players. We are actively working to mitigate this issue.

DDoS assaults are effective because they use several hacked computer systems as attack traffic sources. Computers and other networked resources, like as IoT devices, can be exploited by machines. A DDoS assault is analogous to an unforeseen traffic jam obstructing the roadway, preventing ordinary traffic from reaching its destination.
This comes only days after Blizzard was attacked by back-to-back attacks that generated large lines and connection troubles for fans eager to play the new shooter. Furthermore, prior to this DDoS report, Overwatch 2 players had been experiencing troubles. Previously, Overwatch 2 went into emergency maintenance, which meant that players would be unable to access the game for a brief period of time.
This is anticipated to have been necessary to address the current character difficulties that are preventing many players from accessing half of the roster. In addition, due to unique concerns affecting gameplay, the team elected to shut off two of the game’s most popular agents. Hopefully, these issues will be rectified soon and Blizzard fans will be able to play their games without interruption, but no timetable has been provided for when the Battle.net troubles are anticipated to be resolved.
