If you are wondering how much the new plan will cost, we’ve got you covered as the Xbox Game Pass family plan price was revealed by Microsoft.
Following a leak that revealed Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family branding over the weekend, Microsoft has made its new scheme public and announced pricing in Ireland and Colombia. The service was first announced a month ago and has been in testing since. Tyler Mittleider, a senior technical program manager at Microsoft explained that:
“Starting today in Colombia and Ireland, Xbox Insiders can begin to preview a plan that allows multiple people to share Game Pass Ultimate benefits,”
“This makes it even easier to play the best Game Pass games with friends and family across console, PC, and cloud by enabling you to add up to four people to your subscription, all with their own unique access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate games, content, and benefits.”
Xbox Game Pass family plan price revealed
Members of Xbox Game Pass will be able to share their subscription with up to four additional friends or family members for €21.99 per month in Ireland and 49,900 COP in Colombia. Microsoft isn’t limiting this new Game Pass plan to simply family members; the sole requirement is that those added to the Friends & Family plan live in the same nation.
Microsoft is presently testing this new Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family package in Ireland and Colombia, with a monthly fee of €21.99 instead of the standard €12.99 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That comes to less than €5 a month per person to enjoy all of the standard Xbox Game Pass Ultimate privileges.
“Currently we are piloting this plan in Colombia and the Republic of Ireland. Future countries/regions might be added in the next months,” Microsoft adds in the FAQ. Microsoft has not yet disclosed pricing for the remainder of Europe, the United Kingdom, or the United States, although Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family in the United States is expected to cost roughly $25 per month.
Switching plans requires you to change the time left on your prior plan, and Microsoft will convert you to the Friends & Family plan:
- 30 days Xbox Game Pass Ultimate = 18 days Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days Xbox Game Pass (Console) = 12 days Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days PC Game Pass = 12 days Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days Xbox Live Gold = 12 days Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days EA Play = 6 days Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
Microsoft presently charges $9.99 per month for Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass. Neither subscription offers online multiplayer capabilities, but for $14.99 you can upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which includes Game Pass for console, PC, EA Play access, and Xbox Live Gold online multiplayer. All of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perks will be available to four more friends or family members with Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family. This includes access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox Live, and even PC Game Pass versions of titles for a total of five individuals.
However, the service has several limits. Your membership can only be shared with others who live in your own country/region. If a group member’s country/region of residence changes and no longer corresponds to that of the primary account holder, they will be removed from the group. You may also only be a member of one group at a time.
You can invite up to four individuals at a time as the principal account holder, with a maximum of eight persons accepting to join your account every year. Your group members can only join a group twice a year. Leaving and rejoining the same group are included. Only the primary account user may use home sharing to share Game Pass advantages. Group members cannot share their consoles with other accounts.
