To access exclusive in-app features, users will now be able to subscribe to Snapchat Plus service and in this article we’ll detail Snapchat subscriptions and how to get Snapchat Plus.
As explained by Snap:
“Today we’re launching Snapchat+, a collection of exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features available in Snapchat for $3.99/month. This subscription will allow us to deliver new Snapchat features to some of the most passionate members of our community and allow us to provide prioritized support.”
Obviously making more money is a priority for Snap, which is negatively impacted particularly in Europe by the recent economic crises.
What Snapchat plus will include?
Famous leakster Alessandro Paluzzi provided some leaks about the upcoming Snapchat Plus subscription service:
- Access to exclusive Snapchat icons
- A new profile badge to show that you’re a Snapchat+ user
- New data insights, including the capacity to see your friends’ location history (over the last 24 hours) and info on who’s rewatched your Story
- The capacity to pin a user in the app as “your #1 best friend”
None of those are particularly intriguing; they aren’t “game-changing” improvements that will be widely used. However, they might only appeal to a small portion of the most ardent Snap users. Even if Snap just manages to sign up 1% of its current user base, it would still bring in an additional $13.2 million per month ($159m per year) for the app.
#Snapchat is working on a subscription plan called Snapchat+ 👀

However, even that might be a reach given the popularity of such services in other apps. The product is extremely comparable to Twitter’s “Twitter Blue” add-on package, which lets users access comparable functionality for $2.99 per month.
But uptake of Twitter Blue has been sluggish so far. According to Twitter’s most recent performance update, the company’s revenue from subscriptions and other non-advertising sources totalled $94 million in Q4 21. This figure represented a year-over-year decline of 31% for this component. This shows that Twitter Blue isn’t really gaining much traction at all, and Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has stated that the company’s new revenue and growth initiatives, such as Twitter Blue, have not yet reached “intermediate milestones that enable confidence.”
How much do Snapchat subscriptions cost?
Snapchat officially introduced its paid subscription at $3.99 per month. Snapchat officially launched its paid subscription plan called Snapchat+ today that will offer exclusive features like the ability to change the app icon and being able to see which people have rewatched your Stories.
How to get Snapchat Plus?
Snapchat Plus will be available at launch in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. It’ll expand to more countries over time. Just tap Snapchat+ on your Snapchat profile to get started. If it’s not there yet, wait a bit more as it’s coming gradually.
How much better will Snapchat+ perform?
There is something to be said about the connection that Snapchat users feel to the app, which they use as a major connector with their closest friends, even though it is obviously hard to forecast. More paying users could result from this improved alignment, and once more, Snap just needs a tiny proportion of users to choose it to become a highly profitable choice. And Snap has demonstrated time and time again that it is the only software that truly understands its user base.
