There are reports about two spinoff series for Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. that will be on HBO Max.
According to THR, Downey Jr. is set to executive produce two new Sherlock Holmes series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective fiction. Lionel Wigram, who produced both movies with Downey Jr., is also an executive producer. We don’t know much about the stories’ plots or how they’ll connect, and we don’t know if Downey Jr. will return as the famous detective.

This isn’t the first time a Downey-led Sherlock Holmes cinematic universe has been suggested. In late 2020, Downey Jr. revealed that he wanted to build several spinoffs from the third installment of the series. Although the movie hasn’t been released yet, it appears that plans for the sequels are still moving forward. At the time, Downey Jr. said that:
“At this point, we really feel that there is not a mystery-verse built out anywhere, and Conan Doyle is the definitive voice in that arena, I think, to this day.”
