This article will tell you how to turn your smartphone into your work phone with Xiaomi Enterprise Mode. More and more users use their smartphones daily to work from their cell phones. And the main problem is that sometimes people cannot separate their personal life from their work life. For this reason, Xiaomi thought about those who had one of its models for their business, so it brought a new feature from MIUI 10 that not everyone knows, the Business Mode, as it has gone unnoticed by many.
This Xiaomi tool will not only serve us to convert every time we want our phone in the company mobile, but it will also bring us some features that later we will explain. In addition, the phones of the Asian manufacturer have different methods that help us to configure our usual phone into a smartphone for work every time we want.
Therefore, we will explain all the possibilities that a Chinese device offers us to turn their phones into a secure environment for our company. Avoiding that we continually confuse ourselves with different personal and professional accounts. And is that, in this way, we will forget about possible unpleasantness shortly.
What is Xiaomi Enterprise Mode?
The functionality that we present today can be found among the additional settings of those phones of the Asian manufacturer that have a version of MIUI 10 or higher. In addition, it is an important novelty for all those users who, in their daily lives, have to use two different phones to separate their personal life from work. Well, with the Enterprise Mode, also known as Enterprise Mode, we will be able to work with a Xiaomi mobile.
In addition, not only will serve us for this, but different features are added that will give us certain functions to have greater comfort when using the mobile device, even guarantee us even higher security of our data. Although, the main negative factor that we can find is that, not being so well known, it has not been able to fully exploit all the advantages of having this extra functionality.
Above all, it will be of great use to those companies that want to give their employees an exclusive device for commercial purposes. This means that a series of restrictions can be applied so that these phones can only be used for the work of a specific business. It will be possible to control or restrict applications, communications, hardware, or data, among many other functionalities. Therefore, there will be no limits, since all system options can be fully mastered.
In addition, it allows centralized management of users, data, applications, and behaviors with flexible remote management and configuration services. And, how could it be otherwise, this mode ensures a security mechanism for all the information we have on the phone.
And since the arrival of Android 12, and the new versions of MIUI, this mode has been incorporating new functions focused on improving the use we make of this tool to work with a Xiaomi mobile. Among them, we can find different progress focused on the privacy of the phones we use, to have an important differentiation between the business phone and the personal profile.
In addition, we can select what kind of permissions each user will have in the profile used to work with the Chinese mobile, whether location, camera, or microphone, among many others. However, we will be able to if it is allowed by the company’s policy. But that’s not all, because the system includes a new API that will help us to connect different employees to a Wi-Fi network without the need to activate the requirement of the device’s location.
The downside of these functions is that they are not integrated into all Xiaomi. Mostly because it will be necessary to have a certification from Google itself to be able to count on these extras. Although more and more phones of this Chinese firm are getting it.
How to activate Xiaomi Enterprise Mode?
The Chinese manufacturer makes it very easy for us to be able to enable this mode without any problems. In addition, when we access this functionality we will get an About Business Mode button. In the case that we press it, it will take us directly to a very detailed explanation of how we have to activate it step by step in our phone and what this feature of the Xiaomi is based on.
Although, we will tell you how to do it without having to resort to it since the Terms and Conditions will come in some countries, but then not redirect to a manufacturer’s website that is not translated. The first thing you should do is go to Settings > Additional settings > Company mode. Once inside, two options will appear, one is the one we have explained above and the other will be to activate it.
After clicking on that option, it will take us to a section in which we will be asked for the credentials of our company. To do this, we must register as developers in ‘My Enterprise Services’, to get a code and a license. At the end of the page to which we are sent, a form will appear that we will have to fill in with our business data. This way we will get them to contact us.
Once we have completed everything they ask us, we have been able to finalize the registration. We will only have to enter again in this mode, click on Activate, and enter the data provided to us. Afterward, we will be asked to accept the privacy conditions, and we will have this extra function on our phones.
Other tools to work with Xiaomi Enterprise Mode
Luckily, if you do not want to have to wait to be able to use your mobile to work, different methods will help us to do this. In addition, not only MIUI will facilitate this, but we find two other ways that Android offers us. In this way, we will manage to separate both the applications and our data from those related to our work environment.
The Google profile
All devices that have the Google operating system can be configured with different profiles. With the aim that we can separate our personal life from work. And is that, with this type of mode, we can safely and privately use the same device while working. In addition, with the arrival of Android 12, privacy has been further improved as we said above. This is a fact that really worried many users, as they did not know if their phones were monitored by the company.
This Android 11 profile has had to assign new functions, which until then were only available on mobiles managed entirely by a particular company. Such is the case with asset management protection, personal usage policies to restrict which apps can be used, or the administration of hardware functions (Bluetooth, camera, removable storage). There is even the possibility that employees will not have to use overly complex passwords. This is due to new protections against external attacks. So it will be possible to use a different password for work.
To configure this option in our Android phone what we have to do is to access the Settings of this > click on the option called Google. When we are inside, we will have to tap on Configure and restore. This will allow us to see the option we need to give us the ability to start working on that profile, where we will find everything we need.
Once we have it enabled, we can pause it when accessing Work Profile in Android 12, or another version, by doing the following:
- Slide your finger from the bottom to the top of the screen.
- Tap the Work tab.
- At the bottom of the screen, toggle the Work apps switch on or off.
Create a second space
We also find another possibility, which offers us the phones of this Asian brand. That is the fact of creating a second space within our mobile device to perform some functions, as is the case of using it only for our work environment. Likewise, it allows us to duplicate applications, being able to carry with us the social network account for work in one space and the personal one in another. As for notifications, if we need some in both spaces, it will also allow us to continue receiving them.
The process to set it up on our Xiaomi mobile has two different ways. The first will be to do it through Settings > Second space, while the second will be from the security application. In both cases, we will find the same options and we can create it with the touch of a button. And to delete it, we will have to follow the same steps.
Guest mode
Another alternative offered by Android devices, such as Xiaomi phones, is the guest function. This mode will make it easier for us to lend a phone to other people. Since, activating, it will give rise to certain limitations so that they cannot view the gallery, applications, or other data. Therefore it will also be ideal to use it in case we can not or do not want to activate the Enterprise mode on our Chinese smartphone.
To enable this guest space we will have to go to Settings > System and click on the Multiple user’s categories. When we are inside, it will give us the possibility to switch to other users or create a new one if we have not yet configured any on the Chinese smartphone. In addition, it will also let us the possibility to customize each of them with a photo and name. This way, we will be able to easily distinguish them every time we use one.
