Microsoft has released a public preview of the Amazon Appstore for Windows 11, this way users will be able to download and use Android applications.
Windows 11: Try out Android apps with Amazon Appstore Preview in The Microsoft Store
The official launch will be relatively modest, with only about 1000 applications available to the general public. That’s just a sliver of the apps you can find on the Play Store. Some notable apps mentioned in today’s blog post include War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Audible, and Khan Academy Kids. There’s no hint of popular apps like TikTok in this update, despite the fact that they were previously announced.
However, you’ll be able to sideload Android APKs if that’s your preference, which may help you bridge the gap. Amazon claims it’s testing new apps for inclusion in the preview and will add more over time. Still, it seems doubtful that all of your favorite apps will be available when the Amazon Appstore becomes more widely accessible.
Amazon and Microsoft are being quiet on when the Appstore will be available. However, Amazon has given a vague 2022 release date, so we can expect to learn more this year.
