This is how you can recover the option to disable apps in MIUI 12 on your Xiaomi or POCO phone.
MIUI 12 and its subsequent versions (MIUI 12.1, 12.5…) have brought a whole barrage of new features to the Asian firm’s phones, including those of the Redmi and POCO brands. Other new features, however, have been a setback as far as the number of options is concerned, such as the ability to disable preinstalled applications on a Xiaomi phone. This option, which was often included by default in the Applications section of Settings, is no longer present in the latest versions of the Xiaomi customization layer, which is why we are forced to resort to third-party solutions, which we will detail below.
Guide: Remove preinstalled applications in MIUI 12 on Xiaomi
Hidden Settings for MIUI is the application that allows us to recover the options to disable preinstalled apps on Xiaomi. This application, free to download on Play Store, is compatible with both brand models such as POCO and Redmi.
After starting the application and providing the corresponding permissions, we will go to the Manage Applications option that we can find first. Then, the application will show us a list of all the applications installed on the device. To view the applications that are installed by default on the system, such as Google Chrome, Google Duo, or Google Play Movies, click on the three dots on the bottom bar (More button) and then on Show system.
Now we just have to access each of the applications we want to disable to force them to stop and disable them through the homonymous option, as shown in the screenshot above. It should be noted that this option does not eliminate the application completely, but makes it invisible to the rest. To recover the application in question, simply repeat the above process by clicking on the Enable option. If what we want is to completely uninstall these applications, we recommend you to resort to this other guide where we explain how to uninstall default applications in Xiaomi.
