Google shuts down Museletter project after only three months of its launch. It normally takes a few years for Google to decide whether a project will be canceled or not.
Google discontinues Museletter project
The company may have broken a new record. Area 120’s Museletter service, launched in September 2021, will be discontinued starting on December 20th. It was only able to stay active for three months.
Museletter is a newsletter creation and sharing service. It allows users to create and send out their own customized newsletters and share them with subscribers. The service was in early access in September and didn’t even have the chance to go public.
The officials stated that: “Unfortunately, this experiment is coming to an end. Museletter will be shutting down on December 20, 2021, when we’ll be disabling the website and deleting the limited data we have (like our email list). There’s no action needed on your end. We did not activate our public facing content creation tools, so there’s no user data to export.”
It’s not really surprising Google has decided to kill this project since it’s an experiment, and experiments do have a habit of failing. Area 120 is Google’s experimental incubator.
You can work on personal projects, and if it’s good enough, Google will take them over.
