How to interact more naturally with Alexa? A new feature called “Conversation Mode” is included in third-generation Echo Show 10 devices, allowing users to have more fluid and natural conversations with Alexa without having to call her all the time.
Smoother and more natural conversations with Alexa
Finally, Conversation Mode makes Alexa seem to act as if she’s part of the group rather than the only one. Users must tell Alexa, “Alexa, join the conversation,” to activate Conversation Mode. Tell her: “Leave the conversation” or press the microphone/camera button for the reverse situation.

Amazon explains:
“Our scientists and engineers had to come up with several ways for Alexa to understand when people were talking to the device and not to each other, and to determine when and how to respond. When the conversational mode is enabled, Alexa can use visual and acoustic cues to know when to respond to requests.”
When active, users will notice a solid blue border around the device’s screen, and will also know when Alexa is listening via a light blue bar at the bottom of the screen.
On a privacy level, Amazon clarifies that:
“Only requests that are determined to be directed to Alexa will be recorded and sent to the cloud, and no images or videos will be sent to the cloud. You can review and delete your voice recordings at any time in the Alexa app.”
The new function, which as we can see is optional, will be available on all Amazon Echo 10th generation devices over the next several weeks. Amazon will wait for user comments on this new feature.
