A “Top 10 on Netflix” website has been launched by Netflix to display the charting movies and TV shows on the service, you’ll be able to see the rankings of both English and non-English titles. Both global and country-specific data will be provided to back up the rankings, such as total viewing hours.
Top 10 on Netflix: See if your favorite movie is on the list
Netflix also shows all-time statistics and lets you download these lists in TSV or Excel format.
By far the most popular film worldwide based on time spent was Red Notice, which accumulated 148.7 million viewing hours in its first week. Yara was the most-watched non-English content, with over 18 million views. After two weeks of its launch, the latest season of Narcos: Mexico took the No. 1 spot on the English TV list with roughly 50.3 million hours viewed. Squid game with its 42.8 million hours viewing hours has managed to stay in the top 10 non-English list.
The figures also drew a lot of criticism from rivals. That’s due in part to a lack of clear transparency, and in part because Netflix’s strange and ever-changing definition of a “view” made things difficult.
Originally, Netflix defined a view as someone who viewed 70% of a TV show; the firm then changed this to anybody who viewed at least two minutes of a program. Netflix now just measures how much time its customers spend, on average, watching a program or movie.
