Twitter has decided to start testing a new system for integrating ads. The strategy may not be as well-received as expected, but Twitter wants to show ads between tweet replies.
Twitter to start displaying ads between tweet replies
Yes, you read that right. Now on Twitter, we will find ads among the different replies we read or write. A spokesman from the social network has made a statement regarding the new ad format in a tweet. According to the video, ads may appear after the first, third, or eighth comment. The design of these ads will be in card format.
Starting today, we’re trying something different and testing a new ad format in Tweet conversations. If you’re a part of this test (which is global; on iOS & Android only), you’ll see ads after the first, third or eighth reply under a Tweet. 🗣️ pic.twitter.com/kvIGeYt2vp

In terms of visual appearance, the truth is that they are not as annoying as one might think at first. However, we will also have to see how many ads can appear in the same thread. The problem lies exactly there. While Twitter says ads will appear only after a specific number of replies, the algorithm can end up doing whatever it wants and display too many ads.
The company has said that this feature is being tested globally on both Android and iOS mobile devices. The desktop version of Twitter won’t be affected by those changes for now.
