The social network has launched Facebook on Reels on its main platform in the United States. Instagram had these Tiktok-like short videos already, now the main application of Facebook will have the same feature.
The new feature will be available to Android and iOS users from today, with similar creative tools as those offered by Instagram Reels for making and sharing short videos on their walls and in groups. Users will be able to interact with those videos by commenting.
Facebook brings Reels to its main application
Facebook will do whatever it takes to bring Reel creators to Facebook to be able to reach more users across the platform. In this sense, the company will make recommendations of the most prominent creators on the walls of all users, and even launch a new exclusive section within the news feed to facilitate the discovery of content creators.
On the other hand, Facebook has begun testing the possibility of carrying out recommendations of Instagram Reels to Facebook users, where the creators of Instagram Reels will have an option that enables this possibility. At the moment this is being tested with a small group of creators.
Facebook is trying to compete with TikTok
In this rivalry with TikTok, Facebook also wants to incentivize users to create more content. To that end, they are launching a new bonus program called Reels Play, which will allow creators of Reels on Facebook to earn money from the views of their videos, which will pay eligible creators based on the performance of their videos and will be available on both Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook is getting pretty ambitious in this regard, will it succeed? We’ll see.
