At first glance, the Surface Laptop Studio may appear to be just another laptop, but this is a false impression that is shattered when you encounter its eye-catching tilting display. But let’s start at the beginning, and is that this laptop has been the big surprise of Microsoft’s presentation this afternoon.
Also, we were expecting the Surface Pro 8, the Surface Duo 2, and the Surface Go 3.
Let’s start with the screen. As you can see in the photo, it features a hinge that allows us to employ this Surface Laptop Studio in the same way as its more expensive sibling, the versatile Surface Studio.
As for the same, we’re talking about a 14.4-inch PixelSense multi-touch display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,600 dots in a 3:2m aspect ratio with a contrast ratio of 1,500:1 and Dolby Vision support. We acknowledge that the aspect ratio blew us away, but given that we’re discussing a highly adaptable convertible. This style may prove to be much more handy and pleasant, in addition to being more practical, than various other panoramic ones.
As for its interior, we can find the Surface Laptop Studio with Intel Core i5-11300H and Intel Core i7-11370H processors. In the model equipped with the i5, the graphics section falls on an Intel Iris Xe adapter, while in the i7, Microsoft has chosen to mount an NVIDIA GeForce 3050 Ti, so we can expect great performance in terms of graphics. It is accompanied by 16 or 32GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 2TB of NVMe SSD.
Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 6, and USB-C are all included in the Surface Laptop Studio’s wireless side. We find two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4), a Surface Connect (Surmarine’s unique connection), and a mixed minijack connector for headphones and microphones in the device’s connections section. All this in a convertible with dimensions of 323.28 x 228.32 x 18.94 millimeters in both versions, and a weight of 1.74 kilos in the model with the Core i5 and 1.82 kg if we talk about the model with the Core i7.
Surface Laptop Studio price and availability
We don’t yet know when the Surface Laptop Studio will arrive in Europe, but we do know that all versions of the device will go on sale in the United States on October 6, a day after Windows 11’s general release, and its starting price will be $1,599.99.
