Although WhatsApp has one feature that Telegram lacks is the ability to know who has read your messages in a group. It uses the same indicator as all other chats, which does not indicate whether one person has read it or a hundred. This will change in version 8.0.1 of Telegram, as we advance its beta version.
Telegram 8.0.1: See who has read your messages
When you send a message to a WhatsApp group, long-tapping on it and going to the Info menu shows who has read it. There is no Info menu in Telegram, so there was no method until now of determining who had seen your message in a group.
Instead, Telegram employs the same double-check in groups as it does in chats with other people, so once someone reads your message, it will show as read. For better or worse, that’s going to change soon. In Telegram beta version 8.0.1, which you may download from the @tgbeta channel, it shows who has read your message. And in a basic way.
All you have to do is a simple tap on your message, and the Seen menu appears at the top, indicating the number of people. If you tap on this menu, the list of people who have read the message opens, although the date on which they did so is not added, as it does in WhatsApp. This feature is only available in groups with less than 50 members.
At the moment there does not seem to be any option to disable this behavior, although we must remember that we are facing a beta version, so everything could change. Moreover, there is always the possibility that it may not make it to the final version of the reception of the new feature is not favorable among those who tested the beta.
