Today we’ve learned that Android 12 Beta 4 is available and we are going to talk about the new features of the operating system, compatible devices and more. This version is aimed, above all, at developers adapting their applications to the behavioral changes and new Android 12 APIs, before the arrival of the final release, which should arrive at some point next September.
Android 12 Beta 4 compatible phones and tablets
When launching the first beta of Android 12, Google claimed that a total of 22 devices from up to 11 brands would be compatible with the test version. However, the Google Pixel is still at the top of the list of compatible devices, and as such, they are the first to be able to install Android 12 beta number 4.
- Pixel 3
- Pixel 3 XL
- Pixel 3a
- Pixel 3a XL
- Pixel 4
- Pixel 4 XL
- Pixel 4a
- Pixel 4a 5G
- Pixel 5
For other models from other manufacturers, we will have to wait for each brand to decide to release the update. However, Google has specified that the Android 12 beta 4 is going to be compatible with smartphones from partners such as ASUS, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, and ZTE. For now, however, these brands have not shared their plans in this regard.
How to download Android 12 Beta 4?
In case you have a device compatible with the Android 12 Beta 4, simply access the Android beta program page and choose the device you want to register with. After completing the process, you will receive a notification on your smartphone indicating that an update is available for download.
Those who already have Android 12 installed on their devices will receive the update via OTA as has already happened with the previous three betas.
Android 12 Beta 4: New features
Android 12 Beta 4 comes to achieve what Google calls “platform stability.” That’s why, the changes are intended to fix bugs and known issues, as well as to improve the operation of the system in general.
Therefore, it is not an update with too many functional innovations or aesthetic changes. It is, however, the first beta based on the August Android security update.
In addition, there are some other changes to take into account that come along with Android 12 beta 4.
There’s a new easter egg on Android 12 Beta 4
We had to wait until the arrival of the Android 12 Beta 4 to see the new easter egg integrated into the operating system.
This time, the easter egg shows a clock similar to the one Google has shown in some of the promotional images of Android 12. This one allows you to move your hands, while the device emits vibrations using the haptic engine. When it reaches 12 o’clock, the clock transforms into the Android 12 logo.
In the previous version, many changes were introduced in the dynamic theme system of Material You, the new user interface of Android 12. One of them was the themed icons, which allowed to customize some of the icons of Google apps with the selected color style according to the wallpaper.
With this fourth beta, even more icons have been added, and the “themed icons” option now includes the “Beta” badge.
