The new widget that Google Photos is preparing is intended for the most nostalgic, as its main task is to show memories. Although Google Photos is an application developed by Mountain View, some of its features come first to iPhone. Android usually has to wait a short time, but the wait is there. The latest we have learned is that now the widget designed to display memories will also be released on Android.
This new widget has been created explicitly for iOS because since its new version widgets have regained the importance they had in the past. In fact, on Android, there was no widget for Google’s photo app to date. And, well, the truth is that it doesn’t exist either.
It has been known of the existence of this widget thanks to advanced users who have analyzed every line of code in version 5.49 of the Google Photos application. After doing this they have discovered that the application would be planning the arrival of this widget to Android phones.
Google Photos wants is to show the memories that we have saved as photographs. It is really limited functionality, but it works as a nostalgic reminder of the past and times that have been better or worse.
The user will have no control over these memories, as it is Google itself that makes the memory folders and will show the photographs inside these folders. It is possible that in the future the user will have the ability to customize this folder, but for the moment that is ruled out.
Google has not given a date of arrival for the widget to Android phones, although considering that there are already lines of code within a version of the application.
