Google Photos is being updated with the possibility of choosing which filters we want to activate when searching for certain photos.
In less than two weeks Google Photos will no longer have free unlimited storage and we will have to start paying monthly if we want more space, or we will have to move to an alternative.
To encourage users to end up paying, Google has been developing new features and improvements in the application for several months.
The last to arrive are the filters, a new way to search for photos that, although it does not provide any extra functionality, do make everyday life easier.
Until now, to search for an image in Google Photos we had to type the text in the search box, and the application’s artificial intelligence did the rest.
Now we will have buttons available to activate the filters we want.
These filters appear when we select a person’s photo search and, once there, we can choose what kind of images we want: selfies, movies, etc. In addition, we can include more people in the search, in case we want the photos in which we are with that person, for example.

There will be ten filtering options provided by the application:
- Favorites
- Selfies
- Animations
- Creations
- Archive
- Videos
- Collages
- Movies
- Screenshots
- Moving images
Although it is a feature that is already expanding, as indicated in Android Police, it is not linked to a particular version of the application, and it could take a few days to have it available on all accounts.
