Today we are going to talk about every rumor we know about the next operating system of iPhone, iOS 15. After iOS 14.5 has been released, people already started to talk about iOS 15. The upcoming WWDC 2021 event makes us very attentive to this new operating system. Some details and leaks are already known about the new version, which will surely bring even more new features to the platform.
What improvements will iOS 15 bring in notifications and Apple Music?
A few months ago mentions of iOS 15 and other systems in the WebKit code have been followed by a small trickle of new features. According to a leaker, we will see improvements in battery management and a completely redesigned Apple Music app.
Mark Gurman has also published his insights on the upcoming iOS 15. According to this information, the company focuses on notifications and the lock screen. The new operating system would allow us to choose the type of notifications according to some new states, such as driving, working, or sleeping, in addition to other customizable ones. This will be displayed on the lock screen, in the control center, and in the iPhone Settings app.
Under these states, we will be able to configure automatic responses to received messages, similar to the existing one when driving but extended and improved to other states. Sleep and Do Not Disturb mode also gain specific notifications. Gurman also mentions a new privacy feature in iOS 15 where there will be a menu that informs us which apps are collecting data without our permission.
Finally, there are some unspecific changes to iMessage with the intention of creating a more “social” experience. And a change in the style of icons is also mentioned for the next update.
Which iPhones will be compatible with iOS 15?
As usual, each new iOS version leaves behind a generation of iPhone. It doesn’t always happen, but rumors point to the fact that the new operating system will not be compatible with the iPhone 6s and iPhone SE. Specifically, it seems like the determining element is the processor.
The A9 chip in the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE is not enough to cover the needs of the new operating system. Even though, we know that Apple is taking care of older systems with important security patches. The rest of the devices will be compatible with the new iOS 15 starting from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
When iOS 15 will be available?
The new iOS 15 will be shown for the first time at this year’s developer conference. WWDC 2021 is scheduled for next June 7, where we will meet the new operating system. As of today, we can mention three key dates for the release of iOS 15:
- June 7: the first date is the release of the iOS 15 developer beta, most likely on the same day as the keynote.
- The second date is when Apple opens the beta to the public should be around the end of June.
- Finally, the final release day in September should be a few days after the iPhone 13 unveiling.
