Apple Podcasts has managed to exceed more than 2 million shows available but only %36 of them have more than 10 episodes. The latest figures for podcasts show that only 720,000 of those 2 million podcasts have more than ten episodes released. That’s 36%. In other words, there are many podcasts with very few episodes online, with hundreds of thousands of them having only one episode to listen to.
Apple Podcasts has more than 2 million shows available
This is important for several reasons. First, because the most successful podcasts tend to be those that publish episodes periodically. In iOS 14.5 we will stop subscribing to podcasts to follow them, the rumors indicate that this should be the next step prior to dedicating the verb of subscribing to something paid.
And we are already beginning to see moves by companies to sign up famous podcasters and thus have their content exclusively. We will go from having several platforms where everyone will be on, to something similar with movies and series: each service will have its exclusives and there will be competition.
We will see a lot of podcasts trying to enter the race to be successful on Apple Podcasts, although at the moment what we see is that a good part of them are far from being either successful or determined.
