Of all the Adidas models in 2021, perhaps this one created in collaboration with LEGO is the most curious. These are the new Adidas DNA x LEGO Plates sneakers, which will be launched on April 8.
Adidas and LEGO had announced the collaboration in late October. Since then they produced the Adidas FortaRun x LEGO Ninjago, Kai Shoes, and Lloyd Shoes children’s models. They also launched the Adidas x LEGO Sport Shoes for youth and the Superstar 360 x LEGO for kids.
The DNA x LEGO Plates from Adidas arrive in white, with a textile upper and the iconic midsole foam, typical of the sports footwear company’s Ultraboost. LEGO blocks can be added to the German brand’s traditional three stripes to give the shoe a playful look.
Sneaker News has advanced the information about the unmissable sneakers, which will arrive with customizable spaces. In them, you can connect bricks to hit the streets with the design of your choice.
“If you can dream it, you can build it,” states the official presentation of the model. “Just look at the Adidas Ultraboost sneakers. They changed the game in 2015 with their responsive midsole, Adidas Primeknit upper, and eye-catching style, and they continue to push running technology forward today.”
“This pair features LEGO blocks to celebrate all the builders, dreamers, and risk-takers who are changing the game in their way. Step in and dream big on the pavement. Your best run starts with that first step.”
Environmentally friendly
These sneakers are made with Primeblue, a technology with a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic. According to the company, 50% of the upper is textile, and 75% of the textile is Primeblue yarn, with no virgin polyester.
Its sole is Stretchweb with continental rubber and has a supportive heel counter. In addition to the 144 LEGO 2×2 plates, additional laces and sock liners are included. And its presentation box is quite the homage to the toy blocks.
Marcelo promotes the shoes
Marcelo, Real Madrid’s Brazilian player, is featured along with his family in the advertising for the sneakers. The Merengue left-back appears with one of his daughters putting together the shoe design.
The estimated retail price is $200, and the official launch will be on April 8 at 10:00 a.m. US Eastern Time. And of course, it will eb sold online.
