Google Nearby Share will allow you to send files to multiple people at once, and anyone nearby. Since late last summer, Android phones have had a new way to send files to nearby devices with ‘Nearby Share’, Google’s alternative to Apple’s AirPlay.
In recent weeks, Google Nearby Share has not stopped receiving the news. It already allows us to share apps from the Play Store with our nearby contacts, and in Android 12 it also allows us to share the Wi-Fi key, but this more news is coming.
Google Nearby Share let you share with everyone and with several people at the same time
So far, ‘Share with Nearby’ only lets us send files with our close contacts, the people we have in our address book, but this is going to change in upcoming updates.
‘Nearby Sharing’ is getting ready to allow file sharing with anyone nearby, contact or not. The visibility settings of ‘Nearby Share’ will allow us to select that anyone can send us a file, with the option that the visibility for anyone is only temporary and we are only visible to our contacts after five minutes.
The second and most important new feature is that Google will allow us to send files to more than one person at the same time. Currently, we can only select one contact, but in the future, we will be able to select several people nearby. People who have managed to access this feature report that Nearby Share has allowed them to select up to four people.
