WhatsApp Web and PC calling and video calling now available worldwide. We have seen how 2020 has been a great year for video calls. Although its exponential growth has been due to a forced circumstance, it is a technology that has already entered the public domain, and after everything we have experienced, we do not doubt that they are here to stay. Even when everything goes back to normal.
WhatsApp already had support for video calls for quite some time, but they were limited only to our cell phone. We knew the company was developing this technology for WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for PC, and it’s finally starting to roll out.
WhatsApp Web calls and video calls are starting to arrive
WhatsApp calls and video calls for the computer are some of the most anticipated features. These began to reach the Beta version last December, and after a long wait, it seems that at last, it is a feature that is beginning to reach everyone.
The company has made official the deployment of the feature, which for the moment is only available for video calls between two devices (group video calls will arrive later). WhatsApp has made special emphasis on the fact that both calls and video calls are encrypted point-to-point, and that they will never be able to see or hear the content of these.
According to WABetaInfo, to receive video calls you need to have version 2.21.4.10 or higher of the application. To know your version you can go to Settings -> Help -> Info. of the application and from there we can see the version. If in doubt, it is best to go to the Google Play Store and update the application to the latest version available.
Right now, the feature is rolling out server-side. This means that even if you have the app fully updated you may still not see the call and video call buttons. This is a common process in the deployment of this kind of feature and if there are no technical issues it should reach everyone within the next few hours.
