VAIO Z is back, it has a 3D molded carbon fiber body, and today we are going to talk about its specs, price, and release date. In 2014, Sony sold the VAIO division, many of us thought that we might not see laptops with that brand again, but later the company announced its return.
This new laptop boasts of having the first 3D molded carbon fiber body, with which they promise strength and lightness. Of course, although it does not stay in the Japanese market, for the time being, it is not being released globally either.
VAIO Z specs
VAIO stresses that the 3D carbon fiber used in its new laptop is resistant due to the material itself and the arrangement of the fibers in each sheet. They also emphasize the laptop’s lightness, with a 1.05kg weight, it is not bad at all.
VAIO Z has a 14-inch 4K LCD screen in the four models available. In the upper frame, there’s the webcam, which also has a slider to physically cover it if we prefer to do this when not using it for security reasons.
The keyboard is backlit and is said to be silent, with a 1.5 millimeters distance between the centers of each key (compared to the previous 1.2 millimeters). The keys protrude through the windows of the carbon fiber structure and have a concave surface.
We see that VAIO Z uses the 11th gen Intel processors for the four models available, specifically the Intel Core i7-11375H. RAM options vary between 16GB and 32 GB LPDDR4 and you’ll be able to choose between PCIe SSD with 512GB or 1TB capacity.
It integrates a single HDMI, USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4, and audio minijack, without an SD card reader. The battery gives an approximate autonomy of 10 hours and has support for WiFi 6, in addition to Bluetooth 5.1.
VAIO Z price and release date
As we said at the beginning, for now, it is released in Japan and the United States. The starting price of the four VAIO Z models, already in pre-sale, is as follows:
