Chinese manufacturer Huawei, which is going through its worst time recently due to sanctions imposed by the United States, expects to ship only 70 million smartphones in 2021. This means more than %50 loss compared to the last year.
The company does not expect its sales to improve in 2021. It is revealed that Huawei expects to sell half of the phones it sold last year. The Chinese manufacturer has notified its suppliers that its orders for smartphone components will decrease by 60% this year, due to the fact that the US government sanctions are still in force, despite the arrival of Biden to the presidency of the United States.
Huawei plans to order enough components to manufacture 70 million smartphones in 2021
The company plans to order enough components to manufacture between 70 and 80 million smartphones this year, down 60% from the 189 million units it manufactured in 2020.
It should be noted that all the component orders Huawei has placed were limited to those models with 4G connectivity, given that it does not have permission from the US government to import components for models with 5G. In any case, according to some of Huawei’s component suppliers, the number of smartphones manufactured this year could be reduced to 70 million units.
