Today we gathered everything we know, thanks to the leaks and rumors, about Apple Airpods Pro 2 including specs, price and release date. While the AirPods Pro brought great improvements such as water resistance, custom settings, or active noise cancellation technology, its high price led to lower sales than expected. The company is looking to take a different path with the Airpods Pro 2. They will increase its performance while reducing the size and price considerably.
Apple Airpods Pro 2 specs
Apple will focus on the redesign of Airpods Pro 2, with a much more compact form factor thanks to the SiP (System-in-package) chips that will make it possible to place the hardware components very close to each other. That will result in a design more similar to the Samsung Galaxy Buds or the Google Pixel Buds.
Similarly, the charging case is also expected to undergo a size change, with a 46 mm height, and a 54 mm width, while maintaining a 21.7 mm thickness. Although what is not clear at the moment is whether this will be its only update or if we could expect the implementation of some new charging technology.
Moving back to the headphones, the AirPods Pro 2 will equip an internal W2 wireless chip for better connectivity. We are expecting at least a couple of hours more autonomy according to their predecessors, and some improvements in terms of active noise cancellation technology.
But undoubtedly one of the most interesting improvements comes through one of the latest patents filed by Apple, which suggests that the AirPods Pro 2 could be controlled completely remotely, by touching our face, shaking our head, or even clenching our teeth tightly. Even if this new technology doesn’t make it into the next version, the patent has fueled speculation about where the true wireless headphones are heading.
Airpods Pro 2 release date and price
Latest rumors indicate that the company is expected to present the AirPods Pro 2 next April, in addition to the new iPhone SE 3. Although for the moment the release date of these headphones remains unknown.
However, the rumors seem somewhat more precise when it comes to the price, already marking a huge reduction compared to its predecessors. Apple Airpods 2 will probably come with a $250 price tag.
