Xiaomi is preparing to launch its first gaming phone. At this point, no one doubts that Xiaomi is doing well with Redmi, and even Realme is reaping success by copying Xiaomi’s strategy with Redmi.
It seems that Redmi is preparing a gaming smartphone and that under the portfolio of Xiaomi’s spin-off companies there is a manufacturer like Black Shark dedicated to the world of video games.
Will Redmi want to compete with a sister company like Black Shark? Well, it seems so, because the CEO of the Chinese company himself, Lu Weibing, confirms it on Weibo revealing that indeed, they will soon launch a flagship smartphone specially dedicated to gaming of which we only know that it could mount the new Dimensity 1200 from MediaTek.
Xiaomi’s idea would be to compete with an ultra-powerful mobile for gaming, but much cheaper
Obviously, this is not a known device of which we can offer too much information, but it is possible to confirm that Redmi will enter another segment, in this case, that of gaming phones, with a phone that will arrive “at a price you can not refuse” according to Lu Weibing himself.
And indeed this seems to be the idea, not to directly overshadow Black Shark, but rather to offer an ultra-powerful phone with graphics specifically designed for gaming, but in this case, competing in much more attractive price ranges to reach more markets and more pockets.
To do this, the set would be equipped with a MediaTek chipset, much cheaper than Qualcomm options, and in the same publication, the Director of Redmi adds fuel to the fire by announcing that they will be the first brand to integrate the Dimensity 1200 chipset in a commercial mobile.
It should be noted in this case that Black Shark will indeed play in another league, as Chinese sources confirm a prototype under development and codenamed “Emperor” that would integrate the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset under the hood.
Also, regarding the 2021 flagship electronic heart, there is also talk that Redmi will use it for its top of the range Redmi K40 Pro, joining it with a panel with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz. In this flagship Redmi family, which should be presented next February, there will be another more basic K40 model that will install the Snapdragon 870 retread that we have just been presented from San Diego.
