MediaTek is preparing to announce its new top-of-the-line MT6893 SoC, and this announcement will take place next week, on January 20th. This Density Series SoC would be the company’s new top-of-the-range chip, which is expected to be manufactured at TSMC’s 6nm handheld manufacturing process.
MediaTek will announce MT6893 SoC @ 6nm
In terms of specifications, it is expected to have at least a Cortex-A78 @ 3.00 GHz + 3x Cortex-A78 + 4x Cortex-A55 core accompanied by Mali-G77 graphics (40% faster than the Mali-G76), an LPDDR5 RAM controller, UFS 3.1 storage, and the coveted 5G connectivity built-in.
This SoC could be the one known by now as MediaTek MT6893 with the code name “alps”, which was shown by Geekbench with a mono-core/multi-core performance of 4108/11204 points and 622,409 points in AnTuTu. As a reference, Qualcomm’s top-of-the-range SoC, the Snapdragon 888, has been shown by AnTuTu’s benchmark of 735,000 points, so the Taiwanese company’s progress is not bad at all, since we are talking about 18.1% less performance, but on terminals that will cost almost half as much.
