The screen, in fact, is one of its main arguments. HP Envy 14 is the company’s first device with a 14-inch panel with a Delta E <2 color calibration.
The HP Envy 14 is a laptop in silver finish and weighs just over a kilo and a half. It is a laptop designed for mobility and to be able to work from anywhere. That is precisely why HP has opted for a 16:10 screen, something that little by little is becoming more common in laptops in this category. Thanks to this format, which is somewhat more square than traditional 16: 9 screens, the visibility area is maximized (11%, according to HP).
HP Envy 14 mounts an understated IPS panel with reduced 14-inch bezels. Its resolution is WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200 pixels), it is capable of reproducing 100% of the sRGB color space, it has a Delta <2 color calibration at the factory and its maximum brightness amounts to 400 nits. According to HP, the panel occupies 87% of the front. In the upper frame, we have an integrated 720p webcam that can be turned off using a switch.
Inside we find 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM and an Intel Core i5-1135G7 at 4.2GHz thanks to Turbo Boost technology. It also mounts a 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti graphics card with Max-Q design (with 4GB GDDR6 of dedicated memory). It has 4 cells and 63.3 Wh capacity and incorporates a fast-charging system that is capable of charging 50% of the battery on average, as indicated by the manufacturer.
HP has implemented a fingerprint reader integrated into the keyboard, direct access to turn off the microphone and the computer, and a standby connectivity system, which allows you to receive notifications of new emails or calendar events even when you are not using the computer. It also mounts two speakers signed by Band & Olufsen.
HP Envy 14 has WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5, and support for MU-MIMO technology. It mounts a Thunderbolt 4 port, two USB-A ports, a jack/microphone combo, and an HDMI 2.0, as well as a microSD card reader. Finally, it should be noted that the computer arrives with Windows 10 Home pre-installed by default.
HP Envy 14 price and release date
As HP has confirmed, Envy 14 will be available in January 2021 with a $999 price tag.
