In the middle of last November, Huawei confirmed the sale of its Honor subbrand to a Chinese consortium of more than 30 agents and distributors, which has allowed the new company to sign a global cooperation agreement with Microsoft and based on this agreement, Honor will be able to start using Windows 10 as the official operating system in its next series of laptops.
- Huawei’s system, Harmony OS 2.0 beta is based on Android
- The Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ has the best smartphone camera
- Huawei’s Harmony OS interface will look different than Android
You will be able to use Windows 10 on Honor devices once again
Zhao Ming himself, Honor’s CEO, states that the separation of the Chinese subbrand has allowed the evasion of the still existing restrictions of the United States government to ensure the use of Microsoft’s licenses, thus expanding its sales and support capacity for its next laptops worldwide. Until now, Huawei was considering equipping its laptops with the Android-based Harmony operating system.
As Xiang Ligang, CEO of a telecommunications industry association said: “With one US company partnering with Honor, more US companies are likely to be on board in the near future, which can better solve Honor’s supply chain issues.” In fact, the brand itself hopes that this agreement will pave the way for resuming its relationship with other U.S. vendors such as Qualcomm, helping to bring about the recovery of its family of smartphones.
The arrival of the Windows 10 may open the way for Intel
On the other hand, although the latest models of MagicBook Pro laptops were equipped with Ryzen 5 processors from the 4000 series, it seems that this new agreement with Microsoft will also open the door to the arrival of new versions with Intel Core i5 processors, with imminent availability for the first month of the year. A new component that will allow maintaining the current maximum features like up to 16GB of dual-channel RAM and 512GB SSD PCIe storage.
So the only unknown factor will be the possible new price of these MagicBook Pro with Intel processors and Windows 10 operating system. We’ll share the price details when the officials make a statement.
