The Game Awards 2020 was seen by 83 million people
The 2020 Game Awards gala was another huge audience success: 83 million people watched the gala live last week, almost twice as many as last year? And 40 times more than the first edition in 2014, which had only 1.9 million viewers.
The gala was broadcast on practically every video platform you can think of: YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, Facebook Live, Steam… Adding up all the local platforms, there were more than 45 ways to follow the gala live. If you missed it here, you can see a summary, of everything that happened during the more than three hours of the show.

This figure is 83% more than last year’s edition, which had 45.2 million spectators… and was also close to doubling the previous year. 83 million also implies that they were seen by almost 4 times more people than the last gala of the Oscars, in 2020, which had 23.6 million spectators (and was the least seen in its history).
For obvious reasons, the gala was broadcast online and without an audience, although there were guests such as actresses Brie Larson and Gal Gadot, former Nintendo America president Reggie Fils-Aimé and director Christopher Nolan, who presented the Game of the Year award. There was also time for musical performances, including the traditional medley with music from the six finalists or the performance by Eddie Vedder, singer of Pearl Jam, of the song Future Days.
The Last of Us Part 2 was the clear winner of the night, taking 7 of the 10 prizes to which it aspired (more victories than any other game in the history of prizes). Others, like Final Fantasy VII Remake, Animal Crossing New Horizons, or Among Us also took prizes.
