Twitter is bringing verified accounts back in 2021. Three years have passed since Twitter has given up the “verified accounts” practice for different reasons. At the beginning of 2021, it will start again to assign the blue badge to those accounts that are suitable according to its criteria.
In early 2021, Twitter will resume account verification with the famous blue check. It will do so after three years of suspension of the process, but it also opens the possibility of removing some badges from accounts that have already been verified.

The new policy for the verification process includes six types of accounts. Government, business, brand and nonprofit organizations, news, entertainment, sports and activists, organizers, and other influential individuals will be the only ones eligible for this distinction.
Although Twitter claims that there will be some exceptions if they feel it is appropriate. So, if an account does not fall into the above categories, but could actually qualify for the badge that marks it as a verified account, they may have options.
Before officially launching the verified accounts, Twitter is asking users to participate in a draft initiative with comments on it through the social network blog. The draft will set the stage for improving and defining the process and meaning of verified accounts.
What they do indicate from the beginning is that the accounts must be active for the last six months. They must also offer a complete profile showing the name, images, banner, and a biography, as well as having an email and phone number confirming it.
Twitter warns that verification badges will not be given to those accounts that have been temporarily blocked for 12 hours or 7 days for violating the rules of the social network. Therefore, if we comply with all the requirements, but have been warned or sanctioned, our account will not be eligible for verification.
The purpose of verifying an account on Twitter is to confirm that the person or organization that has it active is who they say they are. This avoids interacting with fake accounts and quickly distinguishes if we are dealing with an official account.
Twitter is bringing verified accounts back in 2021. This is the theory of Twitter. Twitter recognizes that many of the accounts they have verified should not have the famous badge, so they warn that some of them may possibly lose this status in the future.
