Samsung Galaxy Store focuses on games and boasts of Fortnite. Samsung Galaxy Store is Samsung’s own mobile device application store, renovated last year to offer its users “everything your Galaxy device needs, together in one place.” And we’re not talking about just a few users.
Samsung is the world’s leading manufacturer of mobile devices and with such potential, it’s not surprising that the South Korean giant is working hard to prepare its alternative to Google Play in order to extract benefits from one of the segments where there is potential: the sale of applications, including micropayments.
- The U.S. will allow Samsung to supply its panels to Huawei
- Is Samsung Exynos 9925 the first processor with an AMD GPU?
- Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is having some screen problems
Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Store has been redesigned to focus on games, separating its contents into two distinct tabs: applications and games. Samsung wants users to download the games from its own store, and to do so they have not only modified the design but they also have other incentives ready.
Now every time you buy or make a micropayment on a game downloaded through the Samsung Galaxy Store, you will accumulate reward points to redeem discounts. The company also plans to offer different exclusive promotions for Samsung Galaxy Store users, although they have not detailed anything about this yet.
And yes, Samsung boasts of being the only mobile application store in the United States where you can still download Fornite after the App Store and Google Play withdrew the Epic Games title for violation of conditions (Android users can download the game from the official website and install it independently, but this is not very common).
In fact, this is the crux of the matter: the percentage that app stores take away with everything sold there. This is the reason for the lawsuit that Apple with Epic Games confronts. And Samsung wants its piece of the pie, needless to say. That’s why they’re going with this renovation of the Samsung Galaxy Store.
Furthermore, we’re not just talking about single applications and games or micro-payments, but also subscriptions to streaming music and video services such as Netflix or Spotify, but also game platforms, such as xCloud, Google Stadia or Amazon Luna. Samsung Galaxy Store focuses on games and boasts of Fortnite, we will see if they will be able to successful with their new strategy.
