The cooling system of PS5 will collect data from games to improve itself. Since Masayasu Ito’s official teardown video a few days ago, it was revealed that the huge fan Playstation had on board to facilitate cooling was the reason for its big size.

  • PS5 Remote Play will allow us to play non-compatible PS4 games

First impressions are really positive, Japanese media already highlighted PS5’s silent cooling system. In an interview, An engineer working at Sony, Yasuhiro Ootori said that “under normal conditions of use, the fan is quieter than the PS4 and the first PS3”. This is due to the use of liquid metal, Ootori says that it was tested during a couple of years before Playstation 5.

Evolving cooling system of PS5

The cooling system of the PS5 will control the temperature through a sensor. Ootori states that Playstation will adjust its use based on updates designed from real data extracted from the games: “Games will be released in the future, and we will collect data on the behavior of the APU in each of them. We plan to optimize fan control based on this data.”

This is an intelligent way to control temperature and it will not be as noisy as older models. If you remember, PS4 Pro advertised as a more silent model.
