The first smartphone of the Explorer Project already has a name: it will be called LG Wing and it will be presented next week.
LG has some great products, and some of their mobiles were top notch. But they never became the best sellers of smartphone market. But with their new project, they bring a new design, let’s see LG Wing.
LG Wing will be the name of the product as officials state: “LG Electronics confirms LG Wing will be the first product to be launched under the Explorer Project, LG’s new mobile category aimed at discovering new ways to interact with mobile devices, focusing on the evolving and ever-changing needs of today’s consumers and challenging established user norms. LG’s boldest, newest smartphone will deliver a new and different form factor and mobile experience that would be impossible to create with conventional smartphones.”
What LG is proposing is a two-screen mobile with at least one rotating screen, which rotates to provide a T-shaped form, as seen in the images. Or more poetically, in the shape of outstretched wings. We assume that’s where the name comes from, LG Wing.

This new way of using offers some advantages. You can use it vertically with one hand without losing the wide screen, or use the keyboard while still using the horizontal screen completely clean.
It is also possible to see two different things at the same time, one on each screen. For example playing a video game while consulting the GPS, as seen in the opening photo. And surely LG can think of many other new uses.
As it did with LG Velvet, the company seeks differentiation to find its niche in the smartphone market.
At the moment what we know about the LG Wing, according to rumors, is that it will have a 5G connection, a triple camera with a 64MP sensor and a Snapdragon 7 processor, to not raise the price too much.
LG Wing will be presented on September 14 and the presentation can be followed through its LG Mobile YouTube channel.
