Samsung launched Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra even bigger now and with S Pen: The company has not missed its annual appointment to present the second round of its flagships and here we have them, along with other new products. The new Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra follow in the footsteps of the previous ones with two versions, one more contained than the other, but with the same design.
We will see that, as it happened with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and 10+, the differences are based on camera, memory and screen, but what they also have in common is the S Pen. The flagship smartphones of Samsung come with the latest processor of the company, front camera inserted in the screen and the rest of the features that we will now detail.

Even bigger screens and new color options
Samsung’s high-end Galaxy series have been maintaining the curvature on the screen for years and this is maintained in the Note20 Ultra and not in the base model, although they still have more marked corners that make them “more square” than the Galaxy S. Of course, the front this time softens the edges a bit more in the case of the Note20 base and its appearance is more rounded and closer to that of the S20, with the front camera in the middle of the screen.
The rear camera module is quite striking especially in the case of the Note20 Ultra, both for the surface it occupies and for how it stands out. It is somewhat more discreet in the Note20, which as we will see integrates one less camera.
There are some design changes from the previous one. There is still no button for Bixby , but what has been done is to change the location of the physical buttons to the right side since the S Pen is inserted on the left side. In addition, the advance of color is translated into a new shade of pink.
The Note were in the past the big devices of the high-end Samsung, but that has been behind since the Galaxy S have been growing. Especially this year with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, whose diagonal of 6.9 inches is equal in the case of the larger Note20.
Thus, we see a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel for the Note20, with a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. Little difference in size but probably a bit more in experience, given that the Note20 Ultra is the only one of the two with a refresh rate of 120 hertz to begin with . On this, it has a dynamic and automatic adjustment to adapt to use and vary depending on it.
Compared to last year , the FullHD +resolution has also been maintained for the “small” of the Note20. In the case of the base model, the panel has a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels (393 pixels per inch) and for the Note20 Ultra We see WQHD + resolution (3,088 x 1,440 pixels, 496 pixels per inch), values that show very little variation with what we saw in the Note 10.
Conserving the power of its predecessors but with a bigger battery for the “little” of the house
The Note20 are responsible for giving a bit more life to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+
(or Exynos 990 in some regions) that we saw in the Galaxy S20, with equity for both models also with the 5G (the Galaxy Note20 is available in two versions, 4G and 5G, and the Note20 Ultra only available with 5G connectivity). Of course, the Note20 is in 8GB RAM while the Note20 Ultra reaches 12GB.
There are also differences in storage, since although both start from 256GB, it is the Ultra that has a 512GB model with the possibility of expanding it with microSD up to 1TB. And the energy contribution will be borne by batteries that grow compared to their predecessors; The Note20 base reaches the border of 4,300 mAh (finally) and the Note20 Ultra remains at 4,500mAh like the Galaxy S20+, both with 25W fast charge (charger included), 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse. The brand promises a 50% charge of the battery in 30 minutes.
What integrates both almost by punishment is the S Pen, now with a latency of 9 milliseconds (in principle, with more precision than its predecessors) and with the new gesture function Anywhere to facilitate navigation. A utensil that the brand considers essential for productivity, one of the main pillars of these models together with the game.
And speaking of games and entertainment, the Korean company has reached an agreement with Microsoft to integrate the latter’s apps with its tools associated with the S-Pen. In addition, Xbox Game Pass will be available for these two smartphones.
As we saw in the previous Note, the brand has developed a mode for games (Game Booster) so that energy consumption is optimized during games. In addition, they say they have managed to reduce screen latency and connectivity to improve the user experience with games.
As for the software, the Note come with One UI (the Samsung customization layer) on Android 10, although what stands out are the special functions aimed at improving productivity. With Samsung Notes you can activate automatic saving and synchronization, being able to take notes by hand with the S Pen (even in a PDF) and share it to any device.
Samsung Notes also syncs with some of the Microsoft apps (such as OneNote and Outlook) and for the connection to a PC, the brand says that it is even easier. The Note have also historically been in charge of releasing news in this regard, and in the case of the Note20 it promises to be more fluid and fast.
Three and four cameras with double optical stabilization
There is not only numerical difference between the Note20 cameras, but also features. But fortunately they have many aspects in common such as front cameras, some sensors or something that is always interesting: double optical stabilization, for the main camera and for the telephoto lens. So, these are the cameras that we will see in the new Note20:
Galaxy Note20 cameras
Main: 12-megapixel (1 / 1.76 inch, 1.8 µm pixel) sensor, f / 1.8 aperture lens, OIS
Wide angle: 12-megapixel sensor (1 / 2.55 inches, 1.4 µm pixels), lens with f / 2.2 aperture
Telephoto: 64MP (1 / 1.72 inches, 0.8 µm pixels), lens with f / 2.0 aperture, OIS
Galaxy Note20 Ultra cameras
Main: 108-megapixels (1 / 1.33 inches, 1.8 µm pixels), f / 1.8 aperture lens, OIS
Wide angle: 12-megapixel sensor (1 / 2.55 inches, 1.4 µm pixels), lens with f / 2.2 aperture
Telephoto: 12-megapixel sensor (1 / 3.6 inches, 1 µm pixels), f / 3.0 aperture lens, OIS
Depth sensor: AF laser
Thus, the Note20 Ultra maintains the 108-megapixel sensor that we saw and tested in the S20 Ultra, although the 100x digital zoom is not maintained. Of course, the Note20 Ultra telephoto lens gives a 5x optical zoom according to the brand, being 3x hybrid for the basic Note20.
Speaking of the front camera , the bet is simplified with the same sensor and lens for both phones. Its screens show a 10-megapixel sensor (1 / 3.24 inches, pixels of 1,, 22 µm) with autofocus and a lens with f / 2.2 aperture.
