Konami, the Japanese gaming legend is known with Metal Gear Solid and PES, and now they want to enter the PC market with three gaming PC models.

It is one of the most veteran companies in video games. Founded in 1969, Konami abandoned the first line of consoles a couple of years ago. And it seems that now they decided to try their luck with PC hardware. The company has presented its first gaming PCs in Japan.

  • Lenovo launched Legion Phone Duel, a gaming phone with two batteries and a side camera
  • The best gaming laptops (May 2020)
  • The new gaming handheld from Alienware is a Switch competitor

These new PCs are the Konami Arespear C300, C700 and C700+, three PCs focused on different types of gamers. It is not usual for a video game company to also sell computers. But if we look a little more at Konami’s philosophy, it has its logic.

This mythical company has been known outside of Japan since it introduced its first arcade games for the NES console, in the 80s. Its are some of the most important video game sagas, such as Metal Gear Solid, Contra, Castlevania, Silent Hill, or the Pro Evolution Soccer (PES).

A couple of years ago, Konami announced that it would stop developing AAA games, except for the PES saga, and would focus on smaller titles, as well as mobile games.

Their dedication to selling PCs now may seem like a surprising move. But Konami, in addition to its video game division, has other businesses ranging from health centers and gyms, to pachinkos and slot machines.

Precisely the hardware division that is dedicated to manufacturing these betting machines, will also manufacture these PCs, according to the Japanese website PC Watch.

The cheapest is the new Konami Arespear C300, which has an Intel Core i5-9400F processor with 8GB DDR4 memory, a 512GB M.2 SSD, Asus Xonar AE sound card, and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card. At the moment it has only been announced in Japan, at a price of around 1,950 USD.

The Konami Arespear C700 PC is much more advanced. It has a liquid-cooled Intel Core i7-9700 processor, 16GB DDR4 memory, a 512GB M.2 SSD, a 1TB hard drive, Asus Xonar AE sound card, and an NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super graphics card . Its price is around 3,400 USD.

The C700+ version is identical to the C700, but has a transparent side panel with RGB LED lighting. It will cost about 3,700 USD.

They are high prices, but in Japan the hardware is already quite expensive. At the moment we do not know if they will also be sold in other countries.
