Instagram updated Boomerang with new effects: SloMo, Echo and Duo

Boomerang, the video loop creator in Instagram has new effects named SloMo, Echo, Duo and user will be able to trim videos before posting. This is a big update since the launch of the loopmaker almost 5 years ago.

This might help users to create interesting stories and increase the popularity of the tool, as many users are caught up with TikTok, the Chinese music and video app that has lots of effects and already started creating its own memes.

Where to find SloMo, Echo, Duo and trimming -and how to use the new Boomerang effects

You can find the new tools by swiping right on Instagram. Following that, the Stories composer will open and now you should swife left from the shutter selector at the bottom of the screen.

Now you can shoot your video and after that the symbol appearing at the top will show you the new effects and video trim tool.

What do the new Boomerang effects do?

SlowMo plays Boomerangs at half speed. With this effect, instead of one second, the videos will play for two seconds in each direction.

Echo creates a double vision effect by adding videos a motion blur effect, so moving things will have a trail on the screen.

Duo rewinds the clip quickly to the beginning with a texturized look, but it doesn’t only play quickly than it also slows down

And trimming is made in a similar way to Instagram’s video editor.
