Ubisoft has finally confirmed years of rumors! The new Assassin’s Creed game, set in feudal Japan, will be called “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, and the first trailer will be released on May 15th!
Social media literally broke down last night! Ubisoft announced that the mysterious “Codename Red” project is actually “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” sending us all into a shock wave.
As if this shock wasn’t enough, they also announced the release date of the first trailer, which will be May 15th. So yes, an Assassin’s Creed game set in Feudal Japan is no longer a dream!
What awaits us in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Honestly, we don’t have much information yet. Ubisoft continues its typical mysterious behavior. But we did manage to get some important clues. The game is set in Feudal Japan, a period we’ve never seen before. So forget about Renaissance Italy, forget about Victorian London! This time, we are going to the world of samurai and ninjas!

Previously shared posters showed a mysterious character holding a katana. It is also rumored that we can control two different characters. Some even claim these characters could be samurai and shinobi (ninjas). Think about it: we can move stealthily in the shadows and take down opponents with ninjutsu while mowing down enemies with a samurai sword!
Here are the potential platforms the game is expected to launch on:
- PS5
- PS4
- Xbox Series X/S
- PC
But rumor has it that there might not be a PS4 version. There is also some speculation that it will be released later. Hopefully, the trailer will be released tomorrow, and we’ll have our answer there.
Fans have been waiting for Assassin’s Creed Shadows for a long time. We eagerly await how Ubisoft tackles this mysterious world, how the story will take shape, and what innovations the gameplay mechanics will bring. The May 15th trailer will be an important step towards answering these questions. Get ready because the mysterious world of Feudal Japan is about to open its doors!
