Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a major system update for the PlayStation Portal, which enables users to stream PlayStation 5 games via the cloud even when not near their consoles. Before, the Portal’s functionality was restricted to remote play within the same network, which limited its usefulness. This latest release, available starting today, allows PlayStation Plus Premium members to stream a wide selection of more than 120 games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.
This update will finally allow users to play games while on the move. As long as you have a good internet connection, you can play games such as Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the Portal platform. Sony suggests using at least 7 Mbps for streaming at 720p and 13 Mbps for 1080p to guarantee a better gaming experience.

Users can modify their PlayStation Link devices’ audio settings through the PlayStation Portal settings menu. To try out the cloud streaming beta, gamers need a PlayStation Portal remote player, a PlayStation Network account, and an active PlayStation Plus Premium membership. Furthermore, a reliable broadband connection is essential for creating a seamless cloud gaming experience. After applying the update, you can easily activate cloud streaming by finding the toggle for “Cloud Streaming (Beta)” in the Portal’s settings.
