Apple’s latest “It’s Glowtime” event means new phones for many people. But it also heralded the discontinued iPhones. Apple introduced four new phones: the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 13, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are no longer being made. This isn’t the first time Apple has stopped making some of its phones. This year’s change has made many users look closely at the changes.
Discontinued iPhones are like everything else that gets old
Apple has discontinued iPhones 13, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max from its official store. You can still buy these models from other retailers, but Apple won’t be selling them directly. Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 update will support phones up to the iPhone XS, the company said.
The iPhone 16 series, especially the Pro models, brings new features and upgrades, including support for Apple Intelligence, which is not available on older models. Despite the lure of discounted prices on discontinued phones, these enhanced features could drive consumers to newer options.
The iPhone 16 series will be available for pre-sale from September 13, with orders shipping by September 20. After that, regular sales will begin. Each model comes with exciting new features such as upgraded chips, new camera functions, and stylish color options. While older models may still be an attractive choice due to price drops, the iPhone 16 series may be suitable for those who want to use artificial intelligence at Apple. In addition to the iPhone launch, Apple also unveiled updates to its accessories lineup, including minor improvements to the Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max and Pro.
When Apple stops making older iPhone models, people still want them. As prices fall, users look to older models for budget options. Some refurbish and repurpose, while others recycle.
