Instagram has added comments to Stories to get users to interact more. Users can now comment on Stories, which are visible to all viewers. Instagram wants more users to interact with each other on the app. They’re making it easier to send private messages.
Instagram now lets you comment on Stories. Some early users say the comments appear at the bottom of the Story frame, above the controls and viewer details. This placement keeps comments visible without being intrusive. The goal is to get more people talking about the stories they see.
Instagram’s strategy to keep users talking
Instagram is trying to get users to interact more. As more users talk privately, Instagram needs to keep public interaction alive. Instagram’s Adam Mosseri said users now prefer sharing and discussing content via Stories and direct messages. Notes lets users leave conversation prompts at the top of their inbox tabs.
The new Story comments feature fits into Instagram’s plan to get users talking more on the app. This isn’t the first time Instagram has tried to get users talking. Notes are a big hit, especially with teens. They create Notes ten times as often as older users. Instagram has added Notes to profiles, Reels, and feed posts with new features.
Instagram wants to make more conversations based on shared content with Story comments. Creators can turn off Story comments if they want, but enabling them could boost engagement and reach. More engagement means users stay on the app, which is what Instagram wants.
This new feature is a big change. It shows that Instagram is trying to keep up with how people use the app. As social media trends change, Instagram is finding ways to bring conversations back into the public space. Instagram is offering users a new way to connect and engage with each other through Story comments.
If users find it valuable, Instagram will succeed with this feature. If it leads to more meaningful interactions, Instagram could become a platform where users engage with each other. This update could encourage users to talk again, making Instagram more than just a space for scrolling and liking.
