Activate the expansion

Collect the required items
You need three items to unlock Chef:
- Bison Steak
- Cautious Slug
- Infusion
These items can drop in the first and second stages of the game. If you don’t find them all in one run, don’t worry. You can gather them across multiple runs.
Find the Halcyon Shrine
Instead of using the teleporter, look for the Halcyon Shrine. It’s a shrine with green crystals sticking out of the ground. You can find it on any stage, so keep an eye out.
How to use the shrine:
- Approach the shrine and interact with it.
- The shrine will start using your gold to charge up, and it will also summon enemies.
- Defend yourself while the shrine collects about 200 gold.
Defeat the boss
After the shrine has collected enough gold, it will summon a boss. This boss isn’t too tough, but watch out for its spin attack, which can throw you into the air. Defeat the boss to continue.
Enter the green portal
Once the boss is defeated, a green portal will appear where the shrine was. Step through this portal to be taken to the Reformed Altar stage.
Find Chef’s Cave
In the Reformed Altar, you need to find Chef’s cave:
- It’s located slightly to the left of the main area of the stage.
- Enter the cave to see a wok.
Insert the items
In the cave, use the wok to insert the three items: Bison Steak, Cautious Slug, and Infusion. If you don’t have all the items yet, you can come back later to finish this step.
Unlock Chef
After you’ve put all the items in the wok, Chef will be unlocked. You can now choose him as a character and enjoy his special abilities.
